Q and A With Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh

Hands together like a lotus flower, the young woman bows deeply to the Zen master.

“Dear Teacher, when one is considering two paths and cannot choose, what should one do?”

Thầy looks to his left, away from the questioner.  One of his apprentices repeats the question to the audience to ensure that everyone heard it.

He closes his eyes and breathes in.  Seconds go by, the anticipation building for his response to a common human dilemma.  He breathes out, smiles, and turns his head to meet the eyes of the young questioner.

“Well… You have to choose one.”
